Lancaster Homes is proud to build ENERGY STAR® Qualified Homes

The ENERGY STAR label ensures that your home has been built to meet energy efficient guidelines. ENERGY STAR for New Homes is an initiative of Natural Resources Canada. As a participant builder, Lancaster Homes must adhere to strict guidelines and standards and is subject to third-party verification and government audit.

Advantages

  • Lower Energy Costs: Up to 30% savings in energy costs*
  • Comfort: Overall quieter, warmer in winter & cooler in summer
  • Health: Continuous supply of fresh air provided by installation of HRV (Heat Recovery and Ventilation) system
  • Value: Higher resale value**
  • Quality Construction: Better quality construction to achieve minimum air penetration from the exterior and use of more efficient systems
  • Environmental: An ENERGY STAR qualified home releases 2-3 tonnes less of greenhouse gases per year** which contributes to the preservation of our environment

How Lancaster Homes Achieves This Performance ***

  • Exterior: Home enveloped in moister barrier membrane
  • Insulation:
    • R-12 full height wrap insulation in basement
    • R-22 insulation in exterior walls
    • R-40 insulation in attic
    • Foam insulation around windows
  • Windows: ENERGY STAR labelled, low E coating and Argon gas
filled windows and sliding doors block up to 60% of summer heat,
retain the warm air in the winter and reduce condensation
  • Ventilation: High efficiency Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV)
system brings in fresh outdoor air, recovers over 60% waste heat,
exhausts excessive moisture & delivers clean fresh air to the home
  • Ductwork: All exposed heat conduit joints in basement to be
    sealed with sealant compound
  • Heating: High efficiency furnace is smaller, quieter, directly
vented to exterior with sealed combustion chamber and provides
reliable heat and better humidity control
  • Water Heater (rental): 90% thermal efficiency of the water
heater has higher first-hour delivery and recovery providing for
a non-stop flow of hot water
  • Lights: Extensive use of compact fluorescent lights (except strip
lighting over vanities) provides good quality light while being more
    energy efficient
  • Air Tightness Test: Home is subjected to an air penetration test
to ensure air penetration is less than 75% of a home built at OBC
    2006 standards
